Request For Proposals for Warning System for Private Grade Crossings (Demo)
This Request for Proposal is to solicit the provision of retains the services of multiple Proponents to provide the goods and/or services described herein through an open, fair and competitive process. Based on the evaluation of the Submission, Metrolinx intends to invite the three (3) top-ranked Proponents to enter into a Contract for a demonstration period of one (1) year (the “Demo Period”) in order to evaluate the Product (as defined below).
Metrolinx is a crown agency of the Government of Ontario under the Metrolinx Act, 2006, reporting to the Ministry of Transportation. It was created to improve the coordination and integration of all modes of transportation in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). The Metrolinx mandate includes delivering the best possible transportation services today while leading the way to an even better, more convenient service tomorrow; making the best possible use of public transportation investment dollars; and measurably improving the quality of life in the region.
There are approximately fifty-three (53) Private Grade Crossings in the Metrolinx Lands, of which Metrolinx intends to equip a subset with Warning Systems, in accordance with the Transport Canada Grade Crossings Regulations and Standards.
This RFP is being issued to select up to three (3) Products that can be qualified for deployment under a future contract, to achieve this goal.

Responses to the RFP will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. EST on August 14, 2020 through Electronic Bid Submission (EBS) at the Metrolinx MERX Portal.
Proponents must download the RFP documents from the Metrolinx MERX Portal in order for their submission to be considered. Metrolinx reserves the right to reject any or all submissions at its sole discretion.
