MERX Pre-Notice of Upcoming RFP for Integration and Interface Testing Services for PRESTO
Request for Proposal number: I&IT Testing Services
Background
Metrolinx will release a Request for Proposal on or around September 2016 for I&IT Testing services. PRESTO has a need to establish a cost-effective robust Integration and Interface testing (IIT) program and accompanying services to support faster time-to-market and enhanced quality.
PRESTO Testing provides oversight of testing performed by PRESTO’s system integrator to ensure the quality of the hardware and software components of the automated fare management system, which is built on the Microsoft .Net and Dynamics platforms. PRESTO currently processes over 10 million fare payments a month and has over 2 million customers—both numbers are growing.
As the deployment of PRESTO on GTHA and Ottawa transit systems has grown, it has become more complex with a resulting need for more comprehensive and robust testing. As the PRESTO system matures, the frequency of software releases and enhancements has increased and is expected to continue to do so.
PRESTO Testing is looking for a partner to plan and execute I&IT testing while automating the existing manual test suite and mature this area by providing skilled Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), best-in-class testing processes, practices and tools, with the goal to decreasing cost while achieving a faster delivery to market.
The successful proponent will act as an additional vendor in our testing space, collaborating with PRESTO, our service providers/clients, and our other vendors to conduct I&IT testing on a scheduled and well-planned basis. The successful proponent will create and run I&IT testing as a service, taking in release elements on a planned and scheduled basis, liaising with the PRESTO testing team to understand changes and their impacts to the system so as to eventually enhance the quality and stability of PRESTO.
